Box Score 2 The Benedictine University Mesa men's soccer team split their weekend matches against Providence Christian and La Sierra University. The Redhawks defeated the seabeggars, 6-0, snagging their first shutout of the season. The Redhawks were unable to follow up with a win against La Sierra dropping the match, 3-0. Benedictine is now 4-6-3 overall and 4-3-1 in Cal Pac.
REDHAWKS – 6, SEABEGGARS – 0
The Redhawks struck first in the 41st minute of the first half on a goal from Joao Alvarez and quickly followed it with another goal from Aidan Klein just before the half ended. Logan Haricombe and Carlos Barraza were credited the with the assists for the first half goals.
The scoring frenzy didn't stop in the second half. Aidan Klein notched two more goals for a hat trick, with one assisted by Logan Haricombe. Pelaelo Mahloko and Juan Trujillo also scored for the Redhawks on assists from Diego Garcia.
The Redhawks held a 33-7 advantage on shots with 15 on goal. The Redhawks defense had an impressive showing against the Seabeggars only allowing four shots to be on goal. Donato Gil made three saves to secure the shutout win over Providence.
REDHAWKS – 0, GOLDEN EAGLES – 3
The Golden Eagles didn't overwhelm the Redhawks with shots on goal, but capaitlized when the opportunities arose. The Redhawks trailed by going into the second half, allowing goals at the 22nd and 39th minutes of the match. The Golden Eagles would find the net again at the the 67th minute.
The Redhawks struggled to put the finishing touch on several chances in both halves. The Redhawks best chance came in the second half at the 54th minute on a cross from Carlos Barraza to Joao Alvarez that found its way into the net but was called offside.
