Redhawks Shutout Clarke University in Home Opener

The Benedictine University Mesa women's soccer team started the season off with a shutout win over Clarke University. The Redhawks scored 3 goals, two from new faces on the team and one late goal from senior Ainsley McMahon.

Dahlia Alonso scored the first goal off a pass from Ruth Morga in the first minute of the match. The goal set the tone for the Redhawks dominant performance through the rest of the 90 minutes. Freshman Jada Barnett followed scoring the second goal for the Redhawks in the 21st minute of the match. Sophomore Jaden Campbell started and finished the match between the posts and had a total of 7 saves. Campbell's leadership on the defense helped the Redhawks secure their first win and shutout of the 2022 season.

The Redhawks outshot the Pride 10-9. All of the Redhawks shots were on goal while Clarke only had 7 near the mark. The Redhawks also had multiple opportunities from corner kicks with 6 total and 5 in the second half alone. Clarke out-fouled the Redhawks 10-2 with 7 of those being in the first half. BenU split their fouls with one in each half.
