Box Score GLENDALE, Ariz. – The Redhawks faced Arizona Christian on Tuesday, Sep. 13 and defeated the Firestorm, 2-1, to push their overall record to 2-2-1.
Sophomore Dahlia Alonso got things started for the Redhawks in the sixth minute with a 1-on-4 shot into the net. The Redhawks added 5 more shots but ACU held the 8-to-6 advantage. Jaden Campbell and the back line held off the attempts from ACU and had 2 saves in the first half.
The Firestorm started the second half on the offensive creating an opportunity within the first minute and taking five shots before landing one in the 71st. ACU held a 10-to-3 advantage against the Redhawks. The Redhawks countered every shot with a chance in the box but were unable to capitalize on those opportunities. Freshman Neshma Rodriguez scored in the 86th minute on a throw in from senior Kayla Walshire. The goal from Rodriguez put the Redhawks up 2-1 with little time for the Firestorm to answer for the goal.
