Redhawks Defeat UC Merced, 3-1

MERCED, Calif. - The Benedictine University women's soccer team picked up their third conference win against rival UC Merced on Saturday afternoon. The Redhawks improve to 3-0-1 in Cal Pac and 5-2-2 overall. 

Jada Barnett tied the game for the Redhawks at the 30-minute mark. Freshman Brylee Rod notched her first career goal as the Redhawks registered the 3-1 victory over UC Merced. Rod's goal was the game winner for the Redhawks leaving the Bocats unable to answer for it with 21 minutes left in the match. Dahlia Alonso scored in the 83rd minute to secure the win over the Bobcats.

The Redhawks took only 5 shots in the match but made them count while UC Merced took 17 with 10 shots on goal and only landed one. Jaden Campbell had an impressive game between the posts with 9 saves bringing her season total to 58.

The Redhawks return to Arizona and host the University of Antelope Valley on Thursday, Sep. 29 and the University of Saint Katherine on Saturday, Oct. 1.
