Box Score MESA, Ariz. – The Redhawks hosted Arizona Christian on Saturday, Sep. 3 for their home opener. The match went in favor of the Redhawks for most of the first half before the Firestorm answered back and tied the game at 1-1. The match ended in a tie and would bring the Redhawks record to 0-5-2 against ACU.
The Redhawks outshot the Firestorm 6-to-2 in the first half. Luis Olandez scored the first goal of the season for BenU at the 23rd minute. Four shots had been taken by Olandez, Carlos Barraza, and Jason Almanza, respectively before Olandez landed on in the net. The Firestorm shutdown the Redhawks offense after and held BenU to only one shot the rest of the half.
Both teams were quiet on their offense in the second half as they took five shots combined. The Redhawks and Arizona Christian totaled 19 fouls in the game with 10 in the first half and 9 in the second. The Firestorm created more opportunities from the corners with 10 corner kicks while the Redhawks only had 2.
