Women's Soccer Battles Hard in California, But Come Up Short

The Benedictine University women's soccer team finished their southern California trip going 0-1-1 with a tie against Vanguard University and a loss to Hope International. Both games were hard fought battles but amounted to little success for the Redhawks.

The Redhawks scored first against the Vanguard Lions in the 62' minute of the match. Dahlia Alonso found the net for the second time this season but this time on an assist from freshman forward, Neshma Rodriguez. The Lions answered for the goal in the 89' minute to avoid getting shutout and tie the game at 1-1. 

The Lions outshot the Redhawks 19-to-10, but the Redhawks finished with 16 fouls while the Lions had 11. 

 

The Redhawks finished the trip facing off against Hope International in Fullerton, Calif. and fell to the Royals, 5-0. The Royals scored their five goals in the first half with three being unassisted. The Royals outshot the Redhawks 11-to-6 in the first half and let off the gas in the second matching the Redhawks at 5 shots apiece.

Jaden Cambpell finished the trip with 135 minutes in the box and totaled 10 saves in the two matches.

 

UP NEXT

The Redhawks go into conference play next week with a 1-2-1 record and will face off against Cal Maritime and Pacific Union College.
