Redhawks Fall To UAV, 83-70

LANCASTER, Calif. - The Redhawks out scored the Antelope Valley in the fourth-quarter by ten points, but it wasn't enough to give BenU the win, falling to UAV on the road, 83-70. The Redhawks are now 8-10 overall and 5-6 in Cal Pac play.

Elise Young was the Redhawks top scorer with 20 points, seven of which came in the third quarter. Nyah Henderson and Andriana Kasapi were also in double-figures, notching 12 and 11, respectively.

The Redhawks got on the board first on a layup from Young and held the lead through five minutes. The first half went on to have 9 lead changes before Henderson tied the game at 36-36 on a jumper just before the clock ran out.

After struggling to keep pace in the third and being held to just 10 points, the Redhawks came out on the offensive in the final stanza. The Redhawks opened the fourth quarter on a 9-0 run before the Pioneers would score again. Despite an explosive effort for the comeback, the Redhawks were held to only shooting 38% from the field.

 

The Redhawks hit 28-of-76 field goals (36.8%), 3-of-26 three-pointers (11.5%), 11-of-17 free throws (64.7%) and had 45 rebounds to the Pioneers 38 rebounds.  The Redhawks committed 26 turnovers and stole the ball 9 times.  The Pioneers made 29-of-56 shots (51.8%), 5-of-16 three-pointers (31.3%) and 18-of-24 free throws (75%). The Warriors committed 17 turnovers and stole the ball from the Redhawks five times.
