ANGWIN, Calif. – Benedictine University Mesa women's soccer faced off against Pacific Union College and ended in a 2-2 tie. The Redhawks remain in fifth place in the Cal Pac with 4-2-1 conference record and a 4-5-1 overall record.
The first half saw the two teams locked in a tense battle, with neither side giving an inch. However, at the 43rd minute mark, it was
Maya Shearon who broke the deadlock finding the back of the net on an assist from
Brylee Rod.
Benedictine's relentless pursuit of victory paid off once again in the 73rd minute when
Neshma Rodriguez scored to put the Redhawks up, 2-0. The Pioneers launched a remarkable comeback, scoring two goals in just two minutes at the 74
th and 76
th minutes of the match.
Pacific Union applied pressure on the Redhawks defense, outshooting BenU by significant margins. In the first half, the Pioneers managed 10 shots compared to Benedictine's 3 shots. Benedictine showcased their ability to capitalize on scoring opportunities with two well-executed goals, Pacific Union's relentless offensive efforts kept the match balanced.
The Pioneers continued to apply pressure in terms of shots, recording 9 shots against Benedictine's 4.
Jaden Campbell's exceptional goalkeeping performance cannot be overlooked. In the first half, Campbell made an impressive 10 saves, and in the second half, she added 5 more to her tally.
