MESA, Ariz. – The Benedictine University Mesa women's soccer team battled to a 1-1 draw with Park-Gilbert on Thursday evening and closed the weekend with a 2-1 win over Westcliff. The Redhawks secured a playoff spot with the tie and the win finishing in 5
th in the Cal Pac. The Redhawks improve to 6-3-2 in Cal Pac and 6-6-2 overall.
Dahlia Alonso scored the lone goal for the Redhawks against the Buccaneers. The Redhawks outshot the Bucs, 9-to-4 and had 7 of those on frame. The BenU defense held off most efforts from Park allowing just the one goal.
Halle Sellers opened the scoring for the Redhawks against Westcliff, landing one in the back of the net at the 28
th minute on an assist from
Neshma Rodriguez.
Idania Dominguez found the net at the 33
rd minute on an assist from
Dulce Yebra. Westcliff outshot BenU, 9-to-8, and found the net late in the game, at the 87
th minute, to avoid being shut out by the Redhawks.
Jaden Campbell made 6 saves in the game with three in each period.
