LAKELAND, Fla. – The Benedictine University Mesa baseball team suffered their first loss of the East/West Challenge presented by NAIA Ball. The Redhawks kicked off the tournament against No. 1 Southeastern University, dropping the 11-inning game, 9-8. The Redhawks are now 3-2 overall.

BenU took the lead in the in the fourth inning and held it through the ninth before the Fire of Southeastern tied the game to force extra innings. The Fire took the win on a single that got through the left side scoring the runner on third for the walk off.

The Redhawks will play against (4) LSU Shreveport and (25) Keiser University on Friday afternoon.
