MESA, Ariz. – The Benedictine University Mesa men's soccer team struck first but finished the match in a draw with the Bobcats of UC Merced, 1-1. The Redhawks are now 4-4-1 overall and 2-2-1 in Cal Pac play.
The Bobcats came out on the offensive putting pressure on the Redhawks defense taking three shots and two corners within the first ten minutes. BenU got an opportunity to score on a penalty kick and capitalized on the chance to take an early lead.
Pelaelo Mahloko took the shot to put BenU on the board at the 19
th minute.
Merced answered for the goal in the second half at the 67
th minute. Both teams showed impressive defense with the Redhawks holding Merced to three shots while BenU only took two shots on the half.
