CARLSBAD, Calif. – The Benedictine University Mesa men's soccer team opened Cal Pac with a loss against the University of Saint Katherine on Thursday morning. The Redhawks fell to the Firebirds, 2-1.
The Redhawks had the lead going into the second half and held the advantage in shots taking 5 while USK only had three shots.
Isaac Barreno made the only goal for the Redhawks at the 22nd minute.
Alan Garibaldy was credited with the assist on the goal. Barreno led the Redhawks in shots taken with 6 and had three on goal.
The Redhawks were unable to keep pressure on the Firebirds in the second half and gave up two goals on six shots. At the end of the match, the Redhawks still held the advantage on shots with 14 while USK had only nine shots.

Donato Gil split time in the box and combined for three saves on the match.
