CARLSBAD, Calif. – The Benedictine University Mesa women's soccer team opened Cal Pac with a loss against the University of Saint Katherine on Thursday morning. The Redhawks fell to the Firebirds, 7-2.
The Redhawks started the game scoring in the first minute on an unassisted goal from
Neshma Rodriguez but were unable to hold onto the lead through the first half. BenU only took one shot while the Firebirds took 10 in the first. The Redhawks picked up the pace in the second scoring another goal to chip away at the Firebirds lead.
Brylee Rod landed the second for BenU at the 52nd minute mark. Both teams took 8 shots in the second half. BenU held the advantage on corners having 7 to USK's 2 corners but were unble to convert them into goals.
Jaden Campbell played the full 90 minutes between the posts and made three saves on 18 shots with ten on goal.
