Alize Ruiz's Double-Double Helps WBB Defeat Westcliff Warriors, 63-53.

Women's Basketball defeated the Westcliff Warriors 63-53 Thursday night in Irvine, CA. 
 
The women started the 1st quarter down 0-2, but Maria Moore hit a 3-pointer to get on the board, 3-2. The Warriors took the lead back with 6:25 on the clock going up 4-3. But the Redhawks answered and ran up the score to 14-11. Yet, with 51 seconds on the clock the Warriors tied the game and hit a free throw to take the lead to end the 1st quarter. 
 
To open the 2nd quarter, the Warriors add to their score and make it 17-14. The lady Redhawks come back to tie the game 20-20 with Alize Ruiz's jump shot. The two teams then battle for the lead until the Redhawks go up 30-25 with 2:27 left in the 2nd quarter, and the Warriors never get the lead back for the rest of the game. Benedictine Mesa finish out the half up 33-27. 
 
After the half, the Redhawk women come back and add to their lead. With 6:06 on the clock the women hit a 15-point lead, 44-29. The Warriors try to come back, but the Redhawks were locked in making sure to out rebound and steal Westcliff. BenU finished the 3rd quarter up 52-39. 
 
The Redhawks start the 4th quarter with a few turnovers but then get back in the game with a defensive rebound from Nyah Henderson. The Warriors can't seem to stop the Redhawk's shots or offensive rebounds that get them solid second chance shots. It's all about over by 2:19 with the Redhawks up by ten, 58-48. The teams trade some buckets, but the Redhawks hold on to their 10-point lead closing it out 63-53.  
 
Alize Ruiz shot 64% from the field to help her score her season and career high of 23 points tonight. To make it even more special this is Ruiz's 7th double-double this season. Raenesha Willis scored 10 points as well as 5 rebounds and the team high of 4 assists. Nyah Henderson was close to her own double-double with 8 points and 9 rebounds. Henderson also had 3 of the team's 11 steals as well as a block. 
 
The Redhawk women are back in action against the University of Saint Katherine on Saturday, January 6th in Encinitas, CA.
