Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Falls Short in Hard-Fought 1-0 Battle Against Hope International

In the first half of the match, Benedictine Mesa found themselves facing early pressure from Hope International, conceding a goal within the first minute as Isidro Rios scored from an assist by Uriel Sanchez. Benedictine responded by earning several corner kicks, with Reagan Rintoul delivering two early attempts. Tholo Malebo had a promising shot saved by Hope's goalkeeper, Berlin Torres, and picked up a yellow card soon after, leading to a substitution. Despite several offensive efforts from Benedictine, including shots from Ethan Lush, Ryder Padgett, and Gergo Varga, they were unable to break through. Multiple fouls and three yellow cards against the Redhawks disrupted their rhythm, though they continued to press, with strong efforts from substitutes like Jimmy Quintero and Shiloh Perez. Hope International's defense held firm, leaving the Redhawks trailing 1-0 at halftime despite their persistent attacks.

In the second half, Benedictine Mesa pushed hard to equalize against Hope International, starting with an early corner kick by Edwin Arias. Despite aggressive play, the Redhawks were plagued by frequent fouls, earning yellow cards for Shiloh Perez and Rene Yebra shortly after the restart. Their defense remained solid, with Rafael Machado making crucial saves, including a well-timed stop off a header by Gio Marin. Benedictine created several opportunities, with shots from Ryder Padgett, Shiloh Perez, and Carlos Barraza testing Hope's defense. The team made multiple strategic substitutions to maintain their attack, but struggled with offside calls that interrupted their momentum. In the final minutes, Benedictine kept up the pressure with shots from Jack Taylor and Barraza, but Hope's goalkeeper, Berlin Torres, stayed strong. Despite a valiant effort, the Redhawks couldn't find the back of the net, ending the match with a 1-0 loss.
