Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Fall Short to La Sierra 1-2

The Benedictine Mesa Women's Soccer Team fought hard in their match against La Sierra, showing determination and resilience throughout. The Redhawks applied pressure from the outset, with early shots from Dahlia Alonso and Mellysa Galiz testing La Sierra's goalkeeper in the first few minutes. Despite dominating possession and creating several opportunities, Benedictine struggled to find the breakthrough goal.

The first half was intense, with both teams committing multiple fouls, which disrupted the flow of play. Benedictine's defense held strong, and goalkeeper Alinah Heuramo made key saves to keep the match level. Redhawks remained focused, making tactical substitutions to maintain their momentum. However, the half ended in a 0-0 deadlock.

The second half saw Benedictine Mesa continuing their aggressive approach, but La Sierra capitalized on a rare chance in the 54th minute, taking the lead. Six minutes later, they doubled their advantage. Despite the setback, Benedictine Mesa didn't relent. In the 73rd minute, Brylee Rod finally broke through for the Redhawks, scoring off a corner from Julia Bodelasse to bring the score to 1-2.

With renewed energy, Benedictine pressed for an equalizer, earning several corner kicks and pushing La Sierra's defense to the limit. However, despite their best efforts and a series of saves by Heuramo at the other end, the Redhawks were unable to level the score. The match concluded with a narrow 1-2 defeat, but Benedictine Mesa demonstrated their fighting spirit until the final whistle.
