Men's Soccer Secure Thrilling 4-3 Victory Over OUAZ in Dramatic Road Match

The Benedictine University Mesa men's soccer team showed resilience and determination in a thrilling 4-3 victory over Ottawa University Arizona (OUAZ) on the road.

OUAZ applied early pressure with several shots on goal, but Benedictine goalkeeper Mortiz Ae made critical saves to keep the game level. Benedictine's first opportunity came in the 22nd minute when Reagan Rintoul's shot went wide. OUAZ, however, struck first, scoring in the 25th minute to take a 1-0 lead.

Despite falling behind, the Redhawks responded with intensity. After building offensive momentum, Ethan Lush netted the equalizer in the 61st minute, marking his third goal of the season. Just minutes later, Benedictine was awarded a penalty, which Jack Taylor calmly converted, giving the Redhawks a 2-1 advantage.

Benedictine continued to press forward in the second half. Carlos Barraza added a third goal in the 71st minute, assisted by Taylor and Rintoul. Four minutes later, Shiloh Perez extended the lead to 4-1, with another assist from Rintoul.

OUAZ mounted a late comeback, scoring twice in quick succession in the 83rd and 84th minutes, narrowing the deficit to 4-3. Benedictine's defense faced intense pressure in the final moments, but Ae's crucial saves and the team's determination helped secure the victory. Despite a red card and several fouls late in the match, the Redhawks held firm for the hard-fought win.
