Women's Volleyball Outlast Park Gilbert in Five-Set Thriller

The Benedictine University Mesa women's volleyball team battled through a hard-fought match to earn a five-set victory over Park University Gilbert on Thursday night, winning by scores of 26-28, 25-14, 19-25, 25-19, and 15-11.

After narrowly dropping the opening set 28-26, Benedictine responded with an explosive second frame. Behind the consistent setting of Vivianna Galvan and strong swings from Sophie Drollinger and Railey Druxman, the Redhawks cruised to a 25-14 win to even the match.

Park Gilbert regained momentum in the third, capitalizing on Benedictine errors to take a 25-19 victory. But the Redhawks refused to back down, finding their rhythm again in the fourth. Galvan orchestrated the offense effectively, connecting with Janae Moore, Camille Collins, and BelleRose Branconier at the net as Benedictine controlled the tempo to force a decisive fifth set.

In the final frame, Benedictine jumped out to a 6-1 lead behind a key service ace from Adina Ortiz and kills from Moore and Druxman. The Buccaneers attempted to rally late, but the Redhawks maintained their poise, sealing the 15-11 win with a Drollinger kill set up by Galvan.
