The Benedictine Mesa women's soccer team faced a tough battle on Tuesday evening, falling 6–1 to La Sierra University.
La Sierra struck first in the 27th minute when
Averi Costa found the back of the net to make it 1–0. Just before halftime,
Isabella Iniguez converted a penalty kick to extend the lead to 2–0 heading into the break.
The Golden Eagles continued their momentum in the second half.
Samantha Torres scored in the 48th minute, followed by a goal from
Elaina Gonzalez in the 59th to make it 4–0. Benedictine Mesa responded in the 69th minute when
Tori St. Rose finished off a setup from
Cahryn Rod, putting the Redhawks on the board.
However, La Sierra would add two more goals down the stretch to seal the 6–1 final.

Tatum Lally kept the Redhawks in contention with several key saves throughout the match, facing relentless pressure from La Sierra's attack. Benedictine generated chances of their own, including shots from
Brylee Rod,
Rylee Hatcher, and
Michaela Dennehy, but couldn't convert on multiple close opportunities — including two that hit the crossbar in the first half.
