The Benedictine Mesa men's golf team put together a solid showing, with standout performances from
Joe Kelly and
Eric Klutke, both carding impressive rounds of 67 (-5) at the 6,844-yard course.
Joe Kelly was lights out from the start, firing a front-nine 32 that included birdies on holes 1, 4, 5, 6, and 8. He kept the momentum going on the back nine with a steady 35, capped off by a birdie on the par-5 18th. Kelly's sharp iron play and consistent putting propelled him to a team-best -5 overall.
Right alongside him was
Eric Klutke, who matched Kelly's 67 with a consistent and composed round. Klutke shot 33 on the front, highlighted by birdies on holes 6, 7, and 8, and finished with a back-nine 34 that included two more birdies on holes 13 and 16. His ability to avoid big numbers kept him in the hunt all round long.
Eddie Winkelmann turned in a steady effort, finishing at +1 with a 73. He played the front nine at even par and stayed consistent on the back, making key pars down the stretch.
Miguel Villa followed with a 76 (+4), battling back after a tough front nine with a composed 37 on the back.
Charlie Gingras rounded out the Redhawk squad, finishing with a 78 (+6). Despite some early struggles, he managed to steady himself and close out the round with a pair of pars and a birdie on hole 17.
As a team, Benedictine showed depth and resilience, and with Kelly and Klutke leading the charge, the Redhawks demonstrated their potential heading into the next stretch of the season.
