Grant DeGrasse Named Head Coach of Benedictine Mesa Men’s Volleyball

Benedictine University Mesa is proud to announce Grant DeGrasse as the new Head Coach of the Men's Volleyball team.

DeGrasse served as the assistant coach during the 2025 season and stepped into the head coaching role when Matt August took a leave of absence. A Redhawks alum, Grant was a standout player for Benedictine in 2020 and 2021. He was named Cal Pac Defender of the Year in 2020 and earned First Team All-Conference honors in 2021, helping lead the Redhawks to a national championship. He graduated in 2021 with a degree in Psychology.

Following his playing career, DeGrasse earned a Master's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with concentrations in Counseling and Educational Leadership from Western New Mexico University. He returned to Benedictine in 2025 to join the coaching staff.

Now officially taking over the program, DeGrasse shared his excitement: "Being around volleyball my entire life, this has always been a dream of mine—and the fact that my alma mater is giving me this opportunity makes it that much sweeter. I'd like to thank the administration for this chance to lead the Redhawks once again."

Athletic Director Charlie Averkamp also expressed confidence in the hire: "We are very excited about the future of Redhawks Men's Volleyball under Grant's leadership. As an alum, he cares deeply about Benedictine and the program, which will be great for the student-athletes. Benedictine Mesa Men's Volleyball is in great hands with Grant DeGrasse!"

The entire athletic department looks forward to the new era ahead and is excited to see where Coach DeGrasse will take the program next.
