The Benedictine Mesa Redhawks used a dominant defensive start and balanced scoring effort to secure a 63–56 victory over Life Pacific, never trailing across all four quarters in a steady, disciplined performance.
First Quarter:
Benedictine Mesa opened the game locked in on both ends of the floor, racing to a
9–0 lead before Life Pacific could get on the board.
Alannah Northam and
Alexia Wilcox combined for the Redhawks' first six points, taking advantage of multiple early turnovers by Life Pacific.
Olivia Arvallo was everywhere defensively, registering several steals and pushing the tempo to keep Life Pacific off balance.
Arvallo then knocked down a three at the 5:24 mark, stretching the lead to nine. Life Pacific finally stopped the run with a Jaelyn Ramos three, but the Redhawks responded with calm free-throw shooting and another three—this time from
Naomi Elliott—to take a
14–8 lead into the second quarter.
Second Quarter:
The Redhawks continued to build momentum, with Wilcox scoring inside and then connecting from deep to push the lead to double digits at 19–8.
Life Pacific showed spurts of resilience behind Ysabel Puente, who converted a layup and later added a three-pointer to keep her team within reach. Still, Benedictine Mesa's ball movement and bench depth proved effective. Elliott hit another timely three, and
Angelique Moreno drilled one of her own in the final 30 seconds, helping the Redhawks close the half with a
32–20 advantage.
Third Quarter:
Arvallo opened the second half with a jumper as Benedictine Mesa continued dictating pace. Life Pacific's Ebony Cooper worked hard inside, scoring off multiple offensive rebounds, and a three-pointer by Kailey New cut the deficit to 36–25.
However, the Redhawks responded with steady execution. Moreno delivered back-to-back midrange jumpers, and Elliott added a free throw to keep Benedictine Mesa comfortably ahead. Life Pacific made a push in the final seconds with a three from Puente, trimming the margin to
43–35 heading into the fourth.
Fourth Quarter:
Wilcox struck first in the fourth with a layup, and Northam added two free throws to rebuild a double-digit lead. Life Pacific refused to fade, as New and Puente hit clutch three-pointers to make it a 50–45 game with just over six minutes remaining.
The Redhawks answered through Elliott and Wilcox, who continued attacking the paint. Despite several late threes and transition attempts from Life Pacific, Benedictine Mesa countered with defensive hustle—particularly from
Shyla Moore, who scored key baskets down the stretch and grabbed multiple tough rebounds.
Elliott's free throw with six seconds left capped the scoring, securing the Redhawks'
63–56 win after a complete, wire-to-wire effort.
