Benedictine Mesa battled deep into extra innings but came up just short, dropping a hard-fought 6–4 decision to Madonna in 10 innings.
The Redhawks tied the game 1–1 in the third when
Anthony Setticasi reached and later scored on a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch. They took their first lead in the fifth as
Ty Campbell drew a bases-loaded walk, making it 2–1 before the Madonna defense turned a key double play to prevent further damage.
After building a 3–1 advantage going into the ninth, Benedictine Mesa was poised to close it out—but Madonna rallied with a leadoff single followed by a game-tying two-run homer. The Redhawks responded when
Cooper Jeffries delivered a clutch RBI triple in the bottom half to reclaim a 4–3 lead, but couldn't tack on more.
Madonna broke through in the 10th with three runs, taking a 6–4 lead helped by back-to-back extra-base hits and a defensive miscue in center field.
Benedictine Mesa scraped across a run in the bottom of the 10th on Setticasi's sacrifice fly, but a final flyout ended the comeback bid.
