Benedictine Mesa's
Frank Woodford has been named the
Don Meyer National Coach of the Year, an award presented annually to the top head coach in the NAIA.
Woodford led the Redhawks to a historic season, opening the year with a 17–0 start and finishing 28–7 overall. His team earned a national ranking for the first time in program history and advanced to the GSAC Championship game. Despite falling to The Master's in the title game, Benedictine Mesa secured an at-large bid to the NAIA National Tournament.
The Redhawks traveled to Waxahachie, Texas, for the opening rounds of the national tournament, where they defeated Southwestern College before knocking off No. 1 seed Nelson University. They then advanced to Kansas City, Missouri, where they defeated Faulkner University in double overtime to reach the Round of 8. Benedictine Mesa continued its postseason run with a victory over conference opponent Hope International, advancing to the Fab Four.
The season concluded in the semifinals against Freed-Hardeman, the eventual NAIA National Champions.
Woodford's leadership guided Benedictine Mesa to the best season in program history, solidifying his legacy as one of the most influential coaches in BENU history and across the NAIA.
Congratulations to Coach Woodford on being named the
