Frank Woodford will be entering his 9th year with the Benedictine Mesa Men's Basketball Program, 6th as the program’s Head Coach.
During Coach Woodford’s first season leading the program the Redhawks qualified for the programs first NAIA National Tournament bid after winning the 2021 Cal Pac Conference Tournament. That season the Redhawks also picked up their first national tournament victory after beating Vanguard University in the first round.
Woodford led the Redhawks to the 2022 NAIA Men’s Basketball National Tournament after beating University of Antelope Valley and Simpson University in the Cal Pac Conference Tournament.
The 2023-24 season saw the Redhawks win 18 games and finish conference with a program record 65% winning percentage.
Coach Woodford also currently serves as the Associate Athletic Director. In this role he oversees the facilities and operations of 11 intercollegiate programs. Coach Woodford served as the Athletic Director from 2020-2023.
While an assistant coach, Woodford was the NAIA Compliance Officer, ensuring that all 11 athletic programs follow NAIA guidelines on eligibility and other administrative areas. In addition to that, he has also taken over as club sports director, overseeing the beginnings of competitive clubs & organizations at BenU Mesa.
Prior to BenU Mesa, Woodford was the top assistant men's basketball coach at Chandler-Gilbert Community College. While at CGCC Woodford helped place 13 players at four-year institutions in two years. Woodford coached several future Redhawks while at the junior college level, including Kendrik Gannon, Jordan Mitchell, Maurice Walton and Spencer Perry. The Coyotes enjoyed two of the programs most successful seasons on the court as well, reaching the ACCAC play-offs each season.
Woodford served as the Graduate Assistant Men's Basketball Coach at Northern Arizona University under Head Coach Jack Murphy before his time at the junior college level. At NAU, Woodford oversaw much of the D1 prorgam's recruiting efforts as well as student-athlete academic success. In Wooford's final season with the Lumberjacks the won a school record 23 games and made it to the CBI Championship Game.
Woodford has worked with Synergy Sports Technology, Krossover Sports Technology and the NBA Summer League.
Coach Woodford and his wife Megan were married in May 2022.
