John Konya has built an accomplished career in golf, blending coaching, instruction, and professional experience at top facilities across the country. From 2023 to 2025, he served as the Head Men’s and Women’s Golf Coach at Aquinas College, leading the men’s team to a victory at the Lourdes Invitational and guiding the women’s team to a runner-up finish at Harbor Shores. Since 2013, he has spent his summers teaching at Maple Hill Golf Course in Grand Rapids, Michigan. A PGA Member since 1990, after passing the PGA Player Ability Test in 1987, Konya’s career includes roles as Head Golf Professional at Seaview in Absecon, NJ, and The Pointe at Tapatio in Phoenix, as well as Golf Operations Manager at Camelback Golf Club. He has also served as Director of Student Affairs at the San Diego Golf Academy, Director of Instruction for the Nike Northern Arizona Golf Camp, and Associate Director for the Nike Golf Camp at the University of Notre Dame.
Throughout his career, Konya has studied under some of golf’s most respected instructors, including Sean Foley, Dave Stockton, Dave Pelz, and David Leadbetter, and has played rounds with notable celebrities such as Charles Barkley, Robin Yount, John McCloud, Cotton Fitzsimmons, and Randy Johnson. His professional experience includes hosting two LPGA Tour events and three NBC Sports Skills Challenge events. Outside of golf, he treasures time with his wife Lynn and their three children—Drew, Addi, and Liz. For Konya, the greatest thrill in golf is witnessing the joy and pride on a student’s face when they achieve something they’ve worked hard for, knowing he played a part in making that moment possible.
