Benedictine University Mesa

Shay Carey is a striker from Newcastle, England, and attended Ponteland High School. He joins Benedictine University Mesa in 2026 after a successful career at Mineral Area College, where he helped the program earn Region regular-season championships and the Region 16 title while also earning Second Team All-Conference honors. Over two seasons with Mineral Area, Carey appeared in 35 matches with 25 starts and developed into a consistent offensive threat. He averaged 0.26 goals and 0.29 assists per match, contributing to 0.80 points per game. Across his collegiate career, he produced 10 goals and approximately 11 assists while recording a .155 shooting percentage and placing more than half of his shots on goal (.534 SOG%). Carey brings proven scoring ability, championship experience, and a strong work ethic to the Redhawks as he begins his first season at Benedictine Mesa in 2026.
