Steve Crook is in his third year as head men's volleyball coach at Benedictine Universty at Mesa.

Crook led the men's volleyball program to an 11-11 record in their first year as an NAIA program in 2016.

In 2015, he led the Redhawks club team to a fifth place finish at National Collegiate Volleyball Federation National Tournament in 2015. This year, he leads the program into it's first year as a NAIA program.

Prior to coaching at BenU Mesa, Crook served as the head varsity coach at Tesseract School where his team won the CAA State 1A Championships in 2012 and 2013.

He began his coaching career as the head coach of Holbrook High School where he guided the team to its first ever State appearance.

From there he gained college experience at Central Arizona College, garnering a 132-60 overall record in six seasons and coached six NJCAA All-Americans and was the ACCAC runner-up on four occasions.

Crook then spent 18 seasons at Westwood High School where his team was the 1994 State 5A Champions and the State 5A runner-ups in 1996 and 1997. Along with a 431-227 overall record, Crook was recognized as a NHSACA National Coach of the Year finalist (’08), the Arizona Republic Coach of the Year (’94), the Mesa Tribune Coach of the Year (’94, ’97), the Phoenix Gazette Coach of the Year (’94) and the ACA Coach of the Year (’95).

Crook also has extensive club coaching experience, most recently with Arizona East Valley Juniors. He also founded Club Red Juniors in 1992 and served as the club director from 1992-2008.

He received a bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education (Physical Education) from University of Arizona and also played on the Arizona Men’s Club Team for four seasons. Crook then went on to earn a master’s degree in Secondary Education from Arizona State University. During that time he competed in Arizona Outdoor Volleyball Association two-man beach tournaments where he earned six state championships and played in four AVP events including a 13th place finish in the 1982 AVP Arizona Open.
