Benedictine University Mesa

Amaya Ruiz, a native of Denver, Colorado, graduated from Wheat Ridge High School, where she was a standout softball player and four-year varsity athlete. She earned the Golden Glove award as a freshman, sophomore, and junior, led her conference in home runs as a senior, and was named second-team all-conference all four years. After overcoming a major ankle injury, Amaya began her collegiate career at Chadron State College, earning the starting shortstop position before transferring to Jackson State University, where she started at second base under the guidance of former pro athlete Shelby Pendley. In 2024-25, she joined Benedictine University to continue her softball and academic career.
