Benedictine University Mesa

Kira Nowell hails from El Paso, TX, where she attended Parkland High School, earning numerous accolades during her basketball career. She was recognized as the Defensive Player of the Year for two consecutive years, 2019-2020 and 2020-2021, and served as team captain in both 2021 and 2022. Kira also earned All-City 2nd Team honors in 2022, showcasing her defensive prowess and leadership on the court. After high school, she played for Eastern Arizona College and Mitchell College, contributing to significant achievements such as winning the NCAA DIII NECC Championship in 2022-2023 and participating in the NCAA DIII Championship Tournament.

Kira began her journey with Benedictine University in 2024, where she aims to continue her success on the court. In her first season with the Redhawks (2024-25), she played in 7 games, scoring 20 points while adding 1 steal, 5 assists, and 29 rebounds. Kira will also be joining the Benedictine University Mesa women’s flag football team in 2026.
