Travis Lawler

Entering his second season as head coach of the Benedictine University Mesa baseball program, Travis Lawler made an immediate impact in his debut year, leading the Redhawks to the GSAC Tournament Championship Game. Lawler brings more than 15 years of coaching experience at the collegiate and high school levels, along with professional playing experience that helps shape his approach to the game.

Prior to Benedictine, Lawler served as Director of Baseball Operations and Player Development at UIC and spent four years coaching at Benet Academy while working with the Chicago White Sox Elite travel organization. He also operated a private consulting business and trained athletes at the West Suburban Sports Complex.

Lawler began his collegiate coaching career as pitching coach at Angelo State University, where he spent eight seasons helping the Rams win two conference tournament championships, three regular-season titles, and make two NCAA Division II World Series appearances while developing eight MLB Draft picks.

A native of College Station, Texas, Lawler was selected by the Colorado Rockies in the 2007 MLB Draft before beginning his collegiate career at the University of Florida. After transferring to Midland College, he was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in 2009 and went on to pitch professionally in the Cardinals organization and the American Association.
