Redhawks Fall to OUAZ on the Road

SURPRISE, Ariz. – The Benedictine University Mesa men's basketball team battled before falling to OUAZ on the road, 78-70, late Wednesday.

Michael Kirkland led the Redhawks in scoring going for 23 points shooting 9-for-16 from the field and 5-for-8 from behind the arc. Quincy Reece also had a productive night, contributing 14 points, 5 rebounds, and 1 block.

The Redhawks went into the half trailing by 6-points and shooting 37.8% from the field and 36.4% from the three-point mark. The Redhawks picked up the pace shooting 44.1% from the field but only shot 16.7% from behind the three. BenU went 7-for-8 from the free throw line to improve from their first half performance from the free.

The Redhawks offense was also supported by Dalton Smith and Tre Carolina who both tallied 10 points each. Carolina also led the team in assists and tied Smith for steals with three. Smith led the Redhawks defense totaling 7 rebounds and 3 blocks against the Spirit.
