Redhawks Turn Focus to Cal Pac Play

MESA, Ariz. – The Benedictine University Mesa men's basketball are headed into Cal Pac play after two tough games against nationally ranked, Arizona Christian (No. 1) and Northern Arizona University (NCAA DI). The Redhawks are now 2-2 overall with the game against NAU being an exhibition.

VS. ARIZONA CHRISTIAN

Michael Kirkland and Tre Carolina led the offense with 14 points each. Jamaal Wright added 11 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists. Dalton Smith led the Redhawks in rebounds with 6 defensive and 2 offensive to total 8 rebounds. Kirkland added 7 boards of his own to the teams total of 36 rebounds. 

The Redhawks shot 37% from the field, and were only able to make 2 of their 10 three-point attempts. The Redhawks shot 69.2% from the free making 18 of their 26 attempts. The Firebirds only shot 63% and made 12 of their 19 free throw attempts. 

VS. NORTHERN ARIZONA

After a slow start in the first half of the game, Damian Zivak and Jamaal Wright imrpoved their offenseive efforts to lead the Redhawks with 15 and 12 points, respectively. Wright also led the Redhawks in rebounds totaling 6 while Zivak, Cam'Ron Davis, and Dalton Smith added 3 each. 

  

The Redhawks will go into Cal Pac play shooting 47% from the field, 31% from the three, and 61% from the free throw line. The Redhawks also average 44.3 rebounds per game, 12.5 assists, 3.5 blocks, and 9.3 steals per game. 

Michael Kirkland currently leads the Redhawks with a total of 75 points averaging 18.8 per game. Tre Carolina leads the team in assists with 17 averaging 4.3 per game and is just behind Kirkland in points averaging 15.3 per game. Dalton Smith and Tanner Crawford are leading the Redhawks in rebounds averaging 8.8 and 7.3 per game, respectively. 

Embry-Riddle has had two games less than the Redhawks and are averaging 73.5 points per game, but are shooting 51% from the field, and 37% from the three-point mark. The Eagles most recent win comes from SAGU American Indian College with their only loss coming from Life Pacific. 

The Redhawks go into their game against Embry-Riddle with a 7-5 record against the Eagles. The three most recent matches have gone in favor of the Redhawks with 10+ point margins. The game will tip off at 8 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 28th inside of the Coyote Center.
