GLENDALE, Ariz. – The Redhawks suffered a tough loss on Tuesday evening, falling 95-67 to Arizona Christian University. The Redhawks will enter Cal Pac play with a 1-2 overall record and two tough exhibition losses.
Benedictine was led by freshman Nyah Henderson and junior Elise young who turned in 16 and 15, respectively. Heavyn Jordan also tallied 12 points for the Redhawks offense.
The Firestorm jumped out early shooting 55.6% from the field and 50% from the three-point. Despite the excellent ball movement from the Redhawks, they were unable to match ACU and finished the first quarter trailing 28-15. The second quarter went much like the first with the Firestorm outshooting the Redhawks, 22-14 to go into the half with a 15-point lead, 44-29.
Nyah Henderson took control of the offense for the Redhawks in the third quarter scoring 8 points with 2 rebounds and 1 steal. The Redhawks were able to keep pace with the Firestorm ending the third quarter with 22 points apiece, but still trailed 72-51.
The Redhawks finished the game shooting 29.7% from the field, 23.8% from the three, and 85.7% from the free throw line. The Firestorm held the advantage in rebounds with 52-to-40, with 38 defensive rebounds to the Redhawks 25 defensive rebounds.
