Box Score 2 MESA, Ariz. - The Benedictine University Mesa women's volleyball team was never able to find its best throughout a five-set defeat by the Westcliff Warriors. The Redhawks dropped to 2-1 with a 25-12,19-25,21-25,25-14,9-15 loss in what was the first of two matches for the Redhawks this past weekend. The Redhawks bounced back in the win column with a 3-1 win over Saint Katherine.
Thursday's contest featured three Redhawks in double-digit kills, led by sophomore Kylie Bartel (12 kills, 25 assists). Brianna Rivera and Laylah Daniel both added 12 kills in the match. Keshara Montgomery finished with 7 kills and had a .500 hitting percentage. Courtney Ely finished with 9 kills and 2 blocks. Haley Rivera led the backrow with 21 digs and Mariah Montoya led the block with four.
The Warriors outhit BenU for the match, .233 to .180. The Redhawks served up 13 aces compared to five for Westcliff. The Warriors had 20 blocks to the Redhawks 12 and the Redhawks had more kills (59-43) and digs (65-50).
The Redhawks secured their third conference win Friday by defeating USK, 3-1 (25-18,25-14,24-26,25-18), at the Coyote Center.
The Redhawks dished out another 13 service aces with Annabelle Somoza leading the match with a season high of 6. The Firebirds struggled for most of the match with 13 service errors, 13 reception errors, and only 4 aces.
Kylie Bartel notched her second triple-double of the season with 13 kills, 14 assists, and 10 digs. Brianna Rivera had 15 kills, 8 digs and 4 blocks. Keshara Montgomery had four blocks, 5 kills, and hit above .400 for the fifth time this season. Courtney Ely had another 9 kill and 2 block day. Haley Rivera had a season high of 26 digs against the Firebirds.
