The Benedictine University Mesa women's volleyball team defeated the University of Providence inside of Bell Bank Park on Friday September 2. The match went in favor of the Argos until the third set when the Redhawks battled back from 2-0 to take the win 3-2 (22-25,22-25,25-21,25-11,15-8).

Brianna Rivera led the offense with 19 kills while freshman Laylah Daniel tacked on 17 kills. Kylie Bartel added 12 kills, 24 assists, and 10 digs. Annabelle Somoza finished with 31 assists, and 8 digs. 

The Redhawks outhit the Argos, .217 to .110 and had 62 kills to their 40. The Redhawks committed 3 more errors on the attack but had four less errors on the service. The Argos only fared better in blocks with 20 total, 2 solo and 18 assisted. The Redhawks were only able to counter that with 10 assisted blocks. 

The Redhawks faced Arizona Christian on Saturday, September 3 in Glendale, Arizona. After dropping the first set, the Redhawks recovered and took control of the match to take the win 3-1 (14-25,25-22,25-18,25-21). 

Brianna Rivera led the offense once again with 17 kills and 4 aces. Keyshara Montgomery had 5 blocks on the teams total of 12. Haley Rivera added to the Redhawks defense with 22 digs. H. Rivera finished the weekend avergaong 4.69 digs per set and totaled 61 digs in 3 matches. Annabelle Somoza chipped in 21 assists for the Redhawks. Somoza averaged 6.08 assists per set and totaled 79 for the weekend.

Up Next: The Redhawks travel to California to start Cal Pac play against the University of Antelope Valley on September 8 and finish the trip with La Sierra University on September 9.
