Redhawks Cruise Past Keelhaulers, 100-69

MESA, Ariz. – Offensively, the Redhawks were firing on all cylinders. Three players finished with double-digit scoring and in a true team effort, every player scored and nearly all recorded at least one rebound in the contest. The Redhawks defeated Cal Maritime, 100-69, to pick up another Cal Pac win. The Redhawks are now 5-9 overall and 2-5 in Cal Pac play.

Elise Young recorded ten of her 19 points in the first quarter to jumpstart the Redhawks offense early. The Redhawks started off hot shotting 61% from the field and 50% from the three-point mark. The Redhawks also kept the Keelhaulers to only 41% from the field and unable to shoot from beyond the arc. 

The Redhawks opened the game by taking a 11-1 lead and forcing the Keelhaulers to call an early timeout. The  Redhawks didn't let up out of the break and extended the lead to 19-1 before the Keelhaulers scored their first point in the paint. Seven different players scored during the first quarter to give the Redhawks an early 33-20 advantage.

The Redhawks came out with the hot hand to start the third period, going on an 12-0 run. The BenU offense scored 22 points in the quarter to enter the final frame up 81-47. The Keelhaulers answered back in the final frame outscoring the Redhawks 22-19 but were unable to pull off the comeback.

Nyah Henderson and Andriana Kasapi both scored in double figures with 13 and 11 points, respectively. Henderson also led the team in rebounds with 6 while Amber Ayon added 5 boards to the teams total of 41 rebounds. 

The Redhawks hit 40-of-74 field goals (54.1%), 8-of-23 three-pointers (34.8%), 12-of-16 free throws (75%) and had 41 rebounds to the Keelhaulers 34 rebounds.  The Redhawks committed 13 turnovers and stole the ball 16 times.  The Keelhaulers made 22-of-56 shots (39.3%), 1-of-11 three-pointers (9.1%%) and 24-of-29 free throws (82.8%). The Keelhaulers committed 26 turnovers and stole the ball from the Redhawks eight times.
