Redhawks Drop Two Close Contests On The Road

ANGWIN, Calif. – The Benedictine University Mesa men's basketball team started their California trip against Pacific Union College on Thursday evening, falling 62-59. A tight contest throughout, the game featured three ties and four lead changes. Three Redhawks reached double figures in the contest. Tre Carolina netted 17 points, while Michael Kirkland and Jamaal Wright added 15 and 13, respectively.

 

The Redhawks suffered their second narrow defeat against Cal Maritime, 77-74. BenU went into the half tied with Cal Maritime at 36-36. Despite the Redhawks efforts to close the gap, the Keelhaulers kept the lead through the second half. Michael Kirkland led the Redhawks with 27 points and Damian Zivak added 17 points in the conest. The Redhawks outshot the Keelhaulers from the field and beyond the arc but gave up more points on free throws allowing the Keelhaulers to shoot 12-for-20 from the line.

The Redhawks host Park University-Gilbert for their final home game on Wednesday evening. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. inside of the Coyote Center.
