Box Score SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The Benedictine University Mesa baseball team had their season come to an end against Westmont in the Opening Round title game. The Redhawks fell to the Warriors, 10-1, making their overall season record 44-13.
The Warriors got on the board early and held the lead through nine but gave up a run to the Redhawks in the bottom of the ninth on the first at bat.
Orlando Lorduy took a ball deep to put BenU on the board. The Redhawks were outhit 14-5 with hits coming from
Kevin Fitzgerald,
Jack Fitzgerald,
Josh Hernandez,
Carlos Parra, and Lorduy.
Brock Keller came in to close for the Redhawks and kept the Warriors off the board and hitless, but the offense was unable to power back for the win. The Redhawks totaled 10 strikeouts but allowed fourteen hits and ten runs.
The Redhawks finished the year with 44 wins, a 27-game win streak, 12 come from behind wins, 3 shut outs, and four wins by run rule. BenU had three Cal Pac Individual Awards, six All-Cal Pac first team athletes, and six All-Defensive players this season.
