MESA, Ariz. – The Benedictine University Mesa men's soccer team picked up their first win under head coach Tyler Hoffman by shutting out Justice College 3-0. The Redhawks are now 1-1 before heading into Cal Pac play.
The Redhawks started the match applying pressure on the Lions defense taking 11 shots with one finding the net in the 32' from Isaaac Barreno. The goal came unassisted and put the Redhawks up 1-0 at the half. Aidan Klein finished the first half with two saves from three shots by the Lions.
The Redhawks kept the momentum going into the second half taking 7 shots and landing two of them in the goal.
Isaiah Andaverde scored in the 79' while
Joao Alvarez scored in the 83' to secure the win.
Donato Gil made four saves on seven shots taken by the Lions.
