MESA, Ariz. – The Benedictine University Mesa men's soccer team defeated La Sierra University 4-2 on Sunday morning to secure their second Cal Pac win. The Redhawks are now 2-2 in Cal Pac play and 3-4 overall.
La Sierra started the match applying pressure on the BenU defense taking 7 shots in the first while only allowing the Redhawks to take three shots.
Donato Gil made three saves in the first half to keep the Golden Eagles off the board sending both teams into the half scoreless.
BenU picked up the intensity in the second half taking three shots in thirty seconds and finding the net on the 47
th minute on a header from

Carlos Barraza. The Redhawks scored again in the 62
nd minute on a goal from
Isaac Barreno to take a 2-0 lead over La Sierra.
The Golden Eagles answered for one goal in the 73
rd but the Redhawks quickly shut down their efforts for a comeback by scoring five minutes after on a free kick from
Carlos Barraza. The Redhawks didn't let up scoring again in the 77
th minute.
Alan Garibaldy scored the fourth goal for the Redhawks on an assist from
Carlos Barraza.
