Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

MBB Falls Short to the Firebirds, 78-87.

The Men's Basketball team fell short to the Saint Katherine Firebirds, 78-87, on Saturday night in San Marcos, CA.

Damian Zivak got the Redhawks on the board right of the bat with a 3-pointer. The BenU men added to the lead and got it up to 6 points, 8-2. At the 14:11 mark, the Firebirds took the lead going up 14-15. From there the Firebirds continued to add to the lead. The Redhawks tried to stay in the game, but Saint Kathrine kept sinking shots ending the half 40-54.

The second half for the Redhawks was unfortunately plagued with missed shots. BenU got numerous rebounds to try to get second chances, but the shots just wouldn't go in. The men battled hard and with 56 seconds left, Chris Aibuedefe hit a 3-pointer to give BenU their best chance to win the game, 77-81. But the Firebirds hit every shot at the end to not let the Redhawks steal the win, ending the game at 78-87.

Junior Deven Franks had a solid night with 19 points, just 2 short of his career high. Franks combined that with 2 rebounds and 1 assist. Chris Aibuedefe shot 75% for the night to score 15 points, his career high. Tanner Crawford had 8 rebounds and 11 points. But even more impressive Crawford's one block for the night helped him break the career block record with 94 blocks.

The Redhawk men head home for their next game against the University of California, Merced on Thursday, January 11th
