Men's Volleyball Defeats Pacific Union in 3 Sets

The Benedictine Mesa Men's Volleyball team secured a triumphant victory over Pacific Union on Saturday night, winning in three sets with final scores of 25-22, 25-20, and 25-18.

In the 1st set, Pacific Union initially took the lead, maintaining it until Benedictine initiated a crucial 3-point run, propelled by an ace from Damian Bilko and kills by John Jakaitis and Daniel Compton. The teams remained closely matched, but the Redhawks clinched the set with a 25-22 win, thanks to a service error by Pacific Union.

The 2nd set saw a back-and-forth exchange of leads until the 14-12 mark when Benedictine surged with a 4-point run, fueled by kills from Daniel Compton and Ben Turcinec, along with hitting errors. The Redhawks extended their lead to 6 points, and despite Pacific Union narrowing the gap to 3 points, Daniel Compton and Adam Wilson sealed the set with consecutive kills, concluding at 25-20.

In the 3rd set, the Redhawks seized an early lead through a 4-point run, featuring consecutive blocks and a kill by Adam Wilson. Pacific Union momentarily halted Benedictine's progress, leading to a point-trading scenario until the Redhawks embarked on another 3-point run, capitalizing on Pacific Union's errors and a block by Adam Wilson and Jackson Walsh. The set concluded with a kill by Connor Wachala and another block by Adam Wilson and Jackson Walsh, resulting in a 25-18 victory for Benedictine and securing the overall match in three sets.
