Men's Volleyball Defeats ACU in 3 Sets

The Benedictine Mesa Men's Volleyball team secured a triumphant victory over Arizona Christian University in three sets, with set scores of 25-17, 25-14, and 25-21.

In the initial set, Benedictine seized an early 3-0 advantage, capitalizing on Arizona Christian's hitting errors. Although ACU managed to narrow the lead to two points at 17-15, BenU dominated with an 8-point surge. This run included two aces by Daxton Tolman, two kills by Dapre Rogers, one kill by Ben Turcinec, and ACU's hitting errors. While ACU temporarily delayed the inevitable, Ben Turcinec concluded the set with a decisive kill.

The second set witnessed a closely contested battle until the Redhawks surged ahead with a 7-point run. Contributions from Ben Turcinec's kill and ace, along with kills from Rylon Raczka and Dapre Rogers, propelled BenU to a 25-14 victory. Despite the Friestorm's efforts to narrow the lead, BenU secured another 3-point run with a kill from John Jakaitis and an ace from Adam Wilson.

In the third set, BenU initially claimed the lead, but ACU staged a comeback with a 3-point run. At the critical juncture of 16-15, the Redhawks regained control, maintaining it for the rest of the set. A pivotal 3-point run, featuring a kill by Ben Turcinec and an ace by Joshua Beymer, propelled BenU to victory. Another 3-point run, with contributions from Dapre Rogers, Rylon Raczka, and a block from Rylon Raczka and Daniel Compton, solidified their win. Despite the Firestorm's resistance, a decisive block from Daxton Tolman and Joshua Beymer secured the set and the match at 25-21.
