The Benedictine Mesa Men's Volleyball team secured their first win of the season on Wednesday night against Arizona Christian, triumphing in four sets with final scores of 25-20, 21-25, 25-19, and 25-18.
Â
In the opening set, the Redhawks demonstrated a impressive performance, committing only 3 hitting errors collectively and achieving a team hitting percentage of 41.9%. A pivotal 6-point run in the middle propelled them to a 15-8 lead, although serving errors allowed Arizona Christian to stay closer on the scoreboard than the stats might suggest. But the Redhawks were able to hold on and win the set.
Â
The second set saw a spirited comeback from the Firestorm, who seized an early lead and maintained control throughout. Late serving and hitting errors on BenU's side contributed to ACU securing the set.
Â
Despite a slow start in the third set, Benedictine regained energy with impactful kills from
Landon Fuller and
Dapre Rogers. Strategic substitutions were made as the team sought an effective approach. Ultimately, a well-timed ace, by
Daxton Tolman, and a substantial block by
Dapre Rogers and
Jackson Walsh secured the set for BenU.
