The Benedictine Mesa Softball team experienced a split in their doubleheader against Antelope Valley, emerging victorious in game 1 with a 2-0 win and facing a setback in game 2, concluding with a score of 6-7.
In the first game,
Amanda Clack's sixth-inning triple down the right field line brought in
Paige Salazar and
Samantha Lawrence, resulting in a 2-0 lead for the Redhawks. The team successfully held Antelope Valley to zero runs, securing a 2-0 victory.
In the second game, Gabi Perez's right-field single allowed Brandee to score, while
Natasha Lawrence's hit up the middle brought
Lauren Franco home.
Amanda Clack capped off the top of the 1st inning with a single through the left side, enabling
Jasmine Villanueva to score, making it 3-0. However, Antelope Valley rallied in the bottom of the 1st, scoring 3 runs to tie the game at 3-3.
Moving to the 3rd inning,
Amanda Clack's right-side single brought Gabi Perez home, and despite a double play that allowed
Jasmine Villanueva to score, the Redhawks held a 5-3 lead. In the 6th inning,
Samantha Lawrence's single up the middle allowed
Madeline Kallfelz to score, extending the lead to 6-3. Antelope Valley countered with 2 runs in the 6th, leveling the score at 6-6. In the 8th, Antelope Valley managed to score one more run, securing a 7-6 victory.
