The Benedictine Mesa Men's Volleyball team secured a decisive victory against Westcliff in a three-set match on Saturday night, concluding with scores of 25-20, 25-20, and 27-25.
In the opening set, both teams exchanged points until Westcliff gained a temporary lead with a 3-point run. However, the Redhawks swiftly equalized and surged ahead with a 4-point streak, fueled by two kills from
Dapre Rogers and a block from
Josh Beymer and
Dapre Rogers. The teams remained closely contested until the 21-19 mark when BenU orchestrated a crucial 4-point run, capitalizing on kills from Rogers and attack errors from Westcliff. The set was sealed with a decisive kill by
Josh Beymer.
The second set saw an early lead for Westcliff with a 3-point run, but the Redhawks responded by staging a 4-point run, featuring a kill from
Dapre Rogers, an attack error from Westcliff, an ace from
Tyler McBurney, and a block by
Trevor Weinert. Despite the Warriors tying the game, Benedictine initiated another 4-point surge, highlighted by kills from McBurney, Beymer, and Weinert. Although Westcliff narrowed the lead, the Redhawks answered with a resilient 4-point run, including kills from Weinert and two from Rogers.
In the closely contested third set, the Redhawks made a crucial run with an ace and a block by Rogers and Beymer. Despite Westcliff briefly seizing the lead, BenU reclaimed control at the 18-21 mark, embarking on a pivotal 4-point run featuring kills from Weinert and Rogers, and an ace by Weinert. While Westcliff managed to tie the game and even reach game point, a crucial service error allowed BenU to mount a comeback. Capitalizing on Westcliff's errors, the Redhawks clinched the set and secured the match with a decisive block by Beymer and Weinert.
