The Benedictine Mesa Men's Volleyball team secured a decisive victory over Saint Katherine, winning in three sets with final scores of 25-21 across all sets.
In the initial set, Benedictine initially led until Saint Katherine briefly surged ahead at 9-9. However, a resilient Benedictine squad, led by
Gehrig Tolman and
Dapre Rogers, regained control with a critical 3-point run, ultimately sealing the set 25-21.
The second set saw Benedictine maintain an early lead, fueled by the offensive prowess of Rogers. Despite Saint Katherine's attempt to rally, Benedictine countered with another 3-point surge, ultimately clinching the set 25-21 with key plays from
Gehrig Tolman and
Jackson Walsh.
In the third set, Benedictine asserted dominance early with a 4-point run courtesy of Walsh and
Chris Kissling's impressive trio of aces. Despite Saint Katherine's efforts to level the playing field, Benedictine seized control at 19-19, securing victory with a decisive kill from
Trevor Weinert and closing the set 25-21.
Key performers included
Dapre Rogers, who contributed 14 kills, 1 ace, 3 blocks, and 12 digs, alongside
Trevor Weinert, who delivered 12 kills with an impressive .333 hit rate. Additionally,
Chris Kissling showcased his skill with a team-leading 4 aces, supplemented by 3 assists and 8 digs.
