The Benedictine Mesa Baseball team emerged victorious in a doubleheader against Park Gilbert on Sunday, clinching the series with wins of 14-11 and 6-4.
Game 1:
Park-Gilbert initially took the lead in the 1st inning with 4 runs and added another in the 2nd inning. However, Benedictine fought back in the bottom of the 2nd with
Cameron Jowaiszas's double, sparking a rally that led to 7 runs. Jowaiszas's homer in the 3rd inning further solidified their lead. Park-Gilbert responded with 2 runs in the 4th, but BenU surged ahead with
Jack Fitzgerald's grand slam in the 7th inning. Despite a comeback attempt by Park-Gilbert in the 9th, Benedictine held on for a 14-11 victory.
Game 2:
In the second game, Park-Gilbert took an early lead with 2 runs in the 1st and 2nd innings. However, Benedictine rallied in the 4th inning with 4 runs, led by
Jack Fitzgerald's double and
Ryan Curran's triple. Despite Park-Gilbert's efforts to narrow the lead, Benedictine secured a 6-4 win.
