The Benedictine Mesa Baseball team had a split result in Tuesday afternoon's doubleheader against Jamestown. The first game ended with a narrow 3-4 loss, while they rebounded in the second game, securing a 6-4 victory.
In the opening match, Fitzgerald kick-started the Redhawks with a single, bringing
Alec Larson home.
Dylan Bangs added to the score by capitalizing on a wild pitch, making it 2-0. Despite a tied game in the top of the fourth inning, the Redhawks took the lead again in the bottom of the fourth when Joe Consenza scored after
Preston Vine-Close drew a walk. Unfortunately, Jamestown managed to score two runs in the sixth inning, leading to the Redhawks' 3-4 defeat.
The second game showcased a stronger performance by the Redhawks.
Carlos Parra scored on a second base throwing error, followed by
Dylan Bangs and Dan Miranda capitalizing on a shortstop throwing error, pushing the score to 3-0.
Kyle Fenner's triple in the second inning brought
Anthony Sortino home, expanding the lead.
Dylan Bangs scored in the third inning on Joe Cosenza's fielder's choice, making it 4-0. Jamestown responded with a run in the third, but
Oliver Davies hit a homerun in the fourth, bringing the score to 6-1. Despite Jamestown scoring three more runs, the Redhawks held on for a 6-4 victory.
